Ty's Take
We lost a couple of good ones this week. Jerry Halladay, seventy-six, and Patricia Tubb, ninety, both spent their lives here on the plateau when it was smaller and quieter than it is now. They saw the Lab grow, saw the town grow around it, watched Cerro Grande and Las Conchas tear through the mountains we all depend on. Meanwhile the Special Olympics golf tournament raised twenty grand, the drone club's teaching kids to think three-dimensionally, folks are clearing out their garages, and the Forest Service finally released what we already knew about the Frijoles Fire. Small-town September: we mark time by who stays and who leaves, what burns and what we save, and whether the next generation knows how to look at the sky in a new way.
