Street work's coming to Lanning Lane, which if you're headed anywhere downtown or cutting through toward the university, you'll want to know about now rather than when you're already running late. The county's doing repairs that needed doing, and yeah, it'll be a pain for a few days or however long these things take, but roads wear out from use and from weather, and we've had both in spades this year. Meantime, the kids got their Safety Day event, which is one of those small-town things that doesn't make the evening news anywhere but matters plenty here. Teaching kids how to stay safe in a community is work worth doing, and it's good to see folks taking it seriously.
