Ty's Take
There's something about watching a class walk across that stage at Conejos High that reminds you the valley still holds its own—kids who grew up in these towns, who know the land and the language and the history that sits underneath it all, moving on to whatever comes next. Same time, you've got folks like Ecoflight taking to the air on Public Lands Day, showing what the San Luis Valley actually looks like from above, the way the water moves through it, the way the land sits between what we use and what we protect. Both things matter in a place like this: the continuity of kids staying rooted enough to understand home, and the new eyes looking down from the sky to see what we've got to work with. That's not contradiction. That's just Conejos County trying to figure out its own future.
